The 3D printer is driven using Octoprint. Connect to that by going to http://alex-ender3.local or http://10.0.50.3, rather then the IP address listed on the sticker on it.
The config for the Marlin firmware on it is stored in https://github.com/DoESLiverpool/marlinconfigs/

To use this machine, you'll need to:
- Follow safety precautions
- Design 3D object
- Convert to G-Code
- Set printer filament
- Print the object
Let's get started...
This is a consumer-oriented machine, so it's very safe to use. Just be careful of the "hot end" that does the printing, it gets... hot.
TO-DO
At present the bed level is a touch too close to the nozzle. @amcewen has found that setting the first layer thickness to 0.3mm in Cura is a good workaround.
Printing...
- PETG Start with the default PETG settings in Cura, but adjust the extruder temperature to 246°C and set the speed to 30mm/s. Use blue painter's tape on the bed so that it doesn't come adrift while printing.
TO-DO
If the advice below doesn't solve the problem, please create a new issue to let us know.
TO-DO
- If the machine is broken or needs maintenance, create an issue in the issue tracker (link in Troubleshooting above)
- Label the issue:
Tool: 3D Printer - Alex's Ender 3
- If broken, add
Broken
label (this triggers various systems to flag the machine unavailable) - If maintenance required, add
Maintenance
label (the machine is working, but needs TLC) - If parts need purchasing, add
Shopping
label
- Label the issue:
- Spare parts are kept in a box in the 3D printer supplies cupboard underneath the printers.
- Consumables: Materials: 3D Printer Filament
