Hi

My name is Tati and I have just joined the Wearable Tech group after a couple of visits to Does Liverpool. I have just moved here to do a Phd on Grassroots media movements from Brazil (free software activists, tactical media, radio collectives and so on, part of this work can be found here midiatatica.info. Unfortunately I did not had time to meet the group in person but fell very lucky to find in such a turbulent times a networked community of people interested in tech as an expanded form of knowledge still closely linked to the manual. Degrowht and decolonial technologies most needed for our world in need of breathing.

At our first online meeting they exchanged recipes for natural dying with plants and vegetables, also experiments with materials upcycling. They also spoken about previous works with garments and open circuits and researches on biomaterials. I told them about the Seringueira, this beautiful ancestor of ours that produced natural rubber in colonial times, preserving the forests. Technologies of care.

Very nice to meet you Ross, Laura and a special kiss to Jackie! :)

Some findings: Paint from plants are susceptible to the sun light, they lose colour. Not earth colours tough, that are sun-resistant. When using plants with boiled water they have to be used immediately. To preserve them "cook" them with alcohol. Leaves and flowers produce lighter colours, plant stalks are a bit stronger but not so much as the roots, they produce the most vivid colours.
