Locking up procedure

Please make sure the following things are checked before the hackspace is left empty of people. We don't want it to burn down while we are away. We also don't want to waste unnecessary electricity which we all have to pay for.

Some of these procedures will be automated via MQTT and the sonoffs when we get a wall-mounted hand-brake (see Issue#825).

Security

• Close the external fire escape door (rocker switch is on wall opposite far toilet).
• All windows closed
• Check maglock on the entry door is working. If not, check if there is a yellow bar on the emergency release box above the green switch. There should be a plastic push key on top you can use to re-engage it.
• Close downstairs outer shutter when you leave. Button is underneath the doorbell panel

Heating

• Make sure the ceiling (or wall) mounted heating/aircon units are all off.
  • The two in the main room have a remote control unit, usually left on Sean's desk.
  • The Fibre Arts room has a remote control unit which should be in its mount by the light switch.
  • The Room 29 control unit is on the wall by the internal windows.
  • The events room unit is on the wall to the right of the door as you enter.
  • (Think about turning off the heating half an hour before you leave to save electricity.)
• If you see any oil filled radiators, check that these are turned off also.

Lights

• Lights should be checked in all rooms, but easy to miss are the laser cutter room, the metal working room, Dinky, and Room 29.
• Check the toilet lights.
• There is a light switch above the heat switch area for the alcove
• The remaining light switches are on the wall as you go out.

Fire hazards

• Soldering irons
• Heat presses (mug and flat plate)
• Microwave grill
• Laser cutters and all its fans
• Vinyl cutters
• Check 3D printers aren't failing

Wasted electricity

• VR computer at front of room and its monitor
• Laser cutter computers
• Monitors and vinyl cutter
• Coffee machine/hotplates
• Fridge doors closed

Things to turn on

• Fill dishwasher with dirty dishes and turn on
