See DACS 2.3
In general, titles will be devised titles based on DACS.
Occasionally, however, material comes to us with existing labels or listings from the donor or creator that we choose to re-use. In these cases:
- If the title aligns with DACS-compliant titles that match what an archivist would supply anyway, such as "Correspondence", "Memos", or "Meeting notes", enter them as usual but be sure to include information about the source of the titles in a Processing Note at the collection and series/sub-series level, as appropriate.
- If the title does NOT align with DACS, put the title in quotations and be sure to include information about the source of the titles in a Processing Note at the collection and series/sub-series level, as appropriate.
For example:
"Going to the doctor stories", 1975
"APB Data"
"Kalendar, A Medley", 1892
